According
to a study conducted by the
Maputo Tourism Observatory, the hospitality
sector, bars & restaurants are
important
consumers of beverages provided by
domestic producers. It is
estimated that up to 57% of all beverages
sold
in hotels and bars & restaurants in
Maputo City are provided by
companies that produce within the
country.
The
tourism industry in 2010 spent close to 3.3
million dollars on drinks, especially beer,
water and soft drinks.
There
is thus a direct correlation between success
in sales of beverages in the city
of Maputo and the competitiveness of the
tourism industry. How to
capitalize on this relationship in a way
that is mutually beneficial?
We
need to move towards a greater understanding
in order to identify industries and
opportunities for collaborations
which
contribute to the development of
Destination Maputo.
In
this context, the idea of a future partnership in the
area of vocational training, with a
particular focus on the Service Industry
should be examined. It is
necessary to take into account that waiters, ultimately, may be ‘ambassadors’
